Home staging tip
First Impressions Count!
In fact, the first eleven seconds can make or break the sale of your home.
What is your viewer going to see in your house in the first eleven seconds?
A messy front garden?
A pile of rubbish overflowing from your wheelie bin?
The dirty front windows with the yellowed nets hanging there?
Cracked paintwork on the window frames?
The front door with a bell that doesn't work?
A pile of junk mail on the hall table?
Your underwear drying on the hall radiator?
The stained, soiled and frankly ready-for-the bin hall carpet?
A jumble of coats and trainers falling off the coat hooks in the hall?
A view down the hall to a kitchen with unwashed pots and steaming pans?
And don't forget...
What is your viewer going to smell in the first eleven seconds?
Boiling cabbage?
A dirty dog?
Your teenager son's trainers?
Last but not least...
You.
Hate to say it but the viewer will be making an instant judgement on you too, so be prepared! Think about what you're wearing, put a bit of make-up on. Just as you wouldn’t wear your everyday clothes to an interview. Open the door with a smile on your face. Be welcoming and polite.
So the most important home staging tip here is 'first impressions' count.
To quote from a song 'First impressions are lasting impressions', and the old cliche - you never get a second chance to make a first impression. So make those first eleven seconds count!
