Home Staging
Are you thinking of selling your home in the near future? If you are, then it would be a good idea to think of Home Staging.
You can hire a professional home stager to do this or you can do it yourself, although this is quite difficult to be objective enough yourself.
The first thing to do is have a good long look at your home, using an unbiased eye. As if you were seeing your home for the first time.
When looking at your home, the thing you need to keep repeating to yourself is that first impressions count. This couldn't be more true when it comes to selling your home. Many buyers make up their minds about a house in the first 11 seconds.
But, now isn't a good time to take on a major renovation project just so that you can sell your property. Firstly, the project would probably take weeks or months to complete. And secondly a major expense would not necessarily add the equivalent value to your home.
Instead, take a approach, and have a look at the different cosmetic improvements that can be made for an overall improvement. These can include things such as cleaning, painting, refinishing. These are the projects that don't require all that much money, and yet they make an immeasurable improvement to the overall look of your home.
Before you take on any home staging projects, remember that you are sprucing up your home in order to sell it. Now is not the time to experiment with a bright colour scheme. Keep things simple to appeal to the broadest possible market.
A clean, appealing, well maintained home has much better odds of selling, selling for more, and selling faster. So instead of starting too many DIY projects, just focus on making the home attractive, clean, presentable, and well maintained.
Let the new owners do their own wacky designs!
This is the concept of home staging.
